Sometimes the best sessions start with a single spark of inspiration, and for this one, it all began with an outfit.
Kaity and I shared a vision: something shimmering, sparkly, and bold. We built the entire look around that statement piece, layering in purposeful textures with accessories: crisp white boots, oversized sunglasses, and details that made every frame feel intentional.
The vibe: textured style, unapologetic confidence, harsh and bold light, and pure main character energy.
To balance the glam, I searched for the most desolate location I could find in Nashville (which is trickier than it sounds). We landed on the open grassy fields at Harlinsdale Farm, aiming for a large, empty parking lot to match the edgy vision. Instead, we arrived to find 50+ cyclists enjoying the space. So we pivoted, found a new backdrop, and turned it into something magical.
The lighting couldn’t have been more perfect. Just enough cloud cover to soften the sun, yet still delivering the dramatic, harsh light we wanted for this creative editorial shoot.
One of my favorite surprises? A small stretch of white fence that wasn’t in the original plan. It offered just enough contrast and minimalism to make Kaity’s bold style pop. Proof that sometimes the unplanned moments deliver the most striking images.
Kaity brought so much confidence, boldness, and energy to the shoot. That’s what I love most about creative portrait sessions, they’re a true collaboration, blending my vision with the personality, style, and presence of the person in front of my lens.
If you’re ready for creative portraits that feel unapologetically you, whether it’s a glamorous editorial concept or a unique senior portrait session in Nashville, TN, let’s create something unforgettable together.
